Under that regime, it has been estimated that over 2 million lives were lost due to execution and starvation. Within the last 40 years, the scars from that genocide continue to exist for many Cambodians whether it’s in Cambodia, the US, or elsewhere across the globe. Our world today continues to experience genocide in different parts of the map. During the National Day of Remembrance, community leaders and members including the Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc, Cambodian Community Day, Cambodian Americans for Human Rights and Democracy, Angkor Association will lead the call to organize the vigil and stand in solidarity with those who are genocide survivors.
